Frozen dinner rolls become a deliciously simple bread for dinner or sandwiches.  Slow Cooker Pizza Bread is packed with cheese, pepperoni, and spices making it irresistible.

This recipe is sponsored by Rhodes Bake N Serv as part of #SlowCookerMonth. All opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make A Kitchen Hoor’s Adventures possible.

Slow Cooker Pepperoni Pizza Bread

I have to be honest. I have never had Rhodes rolls before. For some reason, frozen bread dough just hasn’t really been something I’ve had on the shopping list. Yes, I realize this isn’t the best way to start off a sponsored event post with Rhodes Bak N Serv, but bear with me.

This was uncharted territory for me. But not with baking bread in the slow cooker. I made one slow cooker sourdough bread once forever ago. It was really good and turned out better than I had hoped. So, I knew I could bake bread in the slow cooker. But I didn’t want to make just a simple loaf of bread or show you how you can bake the rolls in your slow cooker.

Of course, I went to Pinterest to see what inspiration I could find. There were lots! Pizza. You can make deep dish pizza in the slow cooker. There was an infinite number of pull apart breads and a few cinnamon roll recipes. Then I stumbled on some stuffed roll recipes and wondered what that would look like.

So, I sort of combined two ideas into one with this recipe. I start down the pizza path, but wanted to still make a bread. That’s how slow cooker pepperoni pizza bread was born. It’s sort of like a pull apart bread with all it’s cheesy and pepperoni-y layers of goodness covered in pizza sauce. But it’s a loaf bread that you can slice and serve with some pasta. Or, depending on your slow cooker, you can slice it and use it for sandwiches.

Sliced Slow Cooker Pepperoni Pizza Bread

I can imagine this pizza stuffed French toast made with this slow cooker pepperoni pizza bread. Can’t you?

I realized something in the process of not getting to this recipe as quickly as I hoped. Meaning, I left the rolls in the fridge longer than I probably should had. Which is okay! I was disappointed that I could only find the dinner rolls at the grocery and I really did want to make a pizza. But, having left the rolls in the fridge too long, I realized I could reconstitute the rolls into a large dough to make pizza!

So, happy accidents do occur and rolls can become pizza.

This is great news because I plan on making pizza with some of the other rolls in the freezer. I’m thinking a nice deep dish breakfast pizza would be delicious for brunch some day. Full of eggs, cheese, some sausage or bacon (or both) and some veggies like green onions and maybe a little jalapeno. And, of course, I’d really love to make a packed deep dish pizza with pepperoni, meatballs, mushrooms, cheese, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

Sliced Slow Cooker Pepperoni Pizza Bread

I know I’ve talked about being a picky eater growing up. And was even picky about the pizza I would eat, too. I only wanted pepperoni. Plain pepperoni. Nothing else. Then, one day, the restaurant mixed up the order and put pepperoni and mushroom on the pizza. Which is okay for me if it’s canned mushrooms. I’m not a huge fresh mushroom fan on a pizza. They just taste weird to me.

That’s why this bread is strictly pepperoni and nothing else. I toyed with adding some sausage and maybe some peppers, but then I said, “NO!” I just wanted straight up slow cooker pepperoni pizza bread and nothing else.

And I’m sure you can see how delicious this bread is! I can’t wait to nibble on it with some soup or chili, make sandwiches with it, or toast it up as a grilled cheese. Mmmmm. Grilled cheese with some more Provolone or Mozzarella sandwiched in there. Maybe some more pepperoni slices in there, too. I’m totally drooling. Is it lunch time yet?
